BTS confirms March 20 comeback after four-year hiatus
text_fieldsGlobal K-pop sensation BTS has officially confirmed its return to music, announcing a comeback on March 20, 2026, marking the end of a four-year hiatus following the members’ mandatory military service.
The announcement was made by the group’s agency, BigHit Music, which shared a post confirming the comeback date.
The return will mark BTS’s first group release since 2022’s Proof, after which the members paused group activities to fulfil their military duties.
Fans, known as ARMYs, have been eagerly awaiting the group’s return. All seven members, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, have now completed their service. Jungkook, Suga, RM, V, and Jimin were discharged in June 2025, following the earlier discharge of Jin and J-Hope.
According to Billboard, BTS will release a new album on March 20, 2026.
The group had earlier hinted at new music following their military discharge. In a Weverse update, RM said, “The music is coming out really well. Everyone’s trying. Please look forward to it.” Jungkook also raised anticipation, saying, “I think this spring will be more important than ever. So I sincerely hope you all have a safe and enjoyable spring.”
Earlier, the group had announced plans for both a new album and a world tour. In a joint statement, they said they would be releasing new music in the spring and intended to meet fans across the globe.
BTS remains one of the most influential K-pop acts worldwide, with chart-topping hits such as Butter, Dynamite, Fake Love, Life Goes On, and Black Swan.
Their upcoming comeback is expected to be one of the most anticipated global music events of 2026.
