Britney Spears has sold the rights to her music catalog, including hit songs such as Toxic, Baby One More Time, and Gimme More.

Music publisher Primary Wave purchased the pop star’s music rights on December 30, TMZ reported on Tuesday, citing legal documents.

The New York Times also confirmed the sale, quoting an unnamed source familiar with the deal. The terms of the agreement and the price paid for the catalog have not been disclosed.

The reported sale places Spears among a growing list of high-profile artists who have sold their music catalogs in recent years, as such deals have proved lucrative. Artists including Bruce Springsteen, Shakira, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake have completed similar transactions. Springsteen sold his catalog to Sony in 2021 for $500 million, while Sony bought Queen’s catalog for more than $1 billion in 2024.

Spears has released nine studio albums since her debut in 1999 and is among the best-selling female artists of all time. She dominated pop music for nearly two decades, while her personal life and legal battles drew widespread public attention.

The 44-year-old singer spent nearly 14 years under a conservatorship that restricted her control over personal, career, and financial decisions. The arrangement was terminated by a judge in 2021. Spears later described the experience in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me.

Spears has not publicly commented on the catalog sale and has previously said she has no plans to return to the music industry or perform in the United States.
