New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal has been re-elected as the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The decision was taken at the party’s 15th National Council meeting. Kejriwal has been the party’s national convenor since its formation in 2012.

The meeting was held through video conference on September 9 under Kejriwal’s chairmanship, with 330 members attending, the party said. A new 23-member national executive was also constituted, with no changes to the key organisational positions. Pankaj Gupta was re-elected as national secretary, while N.D. Gupta will continue as the party’s national treasurer.

At the meeting, Kejriwal and other senior leaders outlined the party’s future strategies. The AAP had stepped up efforts to strengthen its organisation nationally following its setback in the Delhi Assembly election. The BJP came to power in the 2025 Delhi Assembly election, while the AAP was reduced to 22 seats. The organisational restructuring is being undertaken against this backdrop under Kejriwal’s leadership.

Meanwhile, the AAP has intensified preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly election. The party aims to further strengthen its base in Punjab and expand its presence at the national level.
