Bridgerton fans claim they were scammed after paying hundreds for a themed ball
text_fieldsFans of the popular Netflix show Bridgerton were left frustrated and disappointed after attending a "Bridgerton Ball experience" in Detroit, which turned out to be far from the elegant affair they had expected.
Organized by Uncle N Me LLC, the event promised an evening filled with glamour, classical music, and a variety of themed activities, including a costume contest with a $2,000 cash prize, a theatrical show, and the crowning of a "Diamond of the Season."
Some attendees even paid up to $250 for VIP packages that included valet service, dinner, and live music.
However, what fans actually encountered was a stark contrast to these promises.
According to Forbes, guests, who arrived in extravagant ball gowns, found a poorly organized event with minimal decor, no dancing, and undercooked food. Instead of the string quartet symphonies featured on the show, they were greeted by a lone violinist playing in the corner. Many were left sitting on the floor, scrolling through their phones, as there was no proper seating or entertainment.
Photos and videos from the event went viral on social media, showing attendees expressing their frustration. One X user posted a thread calling it a "Bridgerton Ball scam" and shared an image of a guest sitting on the floor, visibly bored.
The event took place at the Harmonie Club, a new venue in downtown Detroit. In response to the backlash, the owners of the venue released a statement clarifying their role, stating they were not affiliated with the event organizers. They explained that while they provide support and facilities for events, the planning and execution are handled entirely by those renting the space, in this case, Uncle N Me LLC.
The event organizers issued an apology, acknowledging that the ball did not meet expectations. "We understand that not everyone had the experience they hoped for, and for that, we sincerely apologize," they said in a statement. They admitted to organizational issues and took full responsibility for the mishap, promising to review potential resolutions but did not confirm if refunds would be issued.
