Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan, is set to make his debut in the Indian film industry with the highly anticipated drama "Maharaj," produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF).

The film, which also stars Sharvari, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shalini Pandey, is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on June 14, 2024.

Over the past four years, Junaid has been rigorously training for his entry into acting. He signed with YRF for "Maharaj," an ambitious project set against the historical backdrop of the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case. The film completed production in October 2023, and shortly thereafter, the decision was made to release it on Netflix.

Sources close to the project have confirmed the release date. "YRF and Aditya Chopra have great faith in the content of Maharaj, and believes that Netflix will push the film further to a global audience. They along with Netflix are all set to launch the film digitally on June 14, 2024. A crisp marketing campaign is put in place for Maharaj," revealed a source close to the development, reported Pinkvilla.

The marketing strategy includes a brief but impactful pre-release campaign. The trailer is expected to be released around June 5, followed by a nine-day promotional period leading up to the premiere. "Being an OTT release, Netflix has strategically devised a short pre-release campaign. The major push will come post the release when the content does the talking and creates more points for conversation," the source added.

Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, known for his work on "Hichki" starring Rani Mukerji, "Maharaj" will be YRF's third direct-to-digital project following "Romantics" and "The Railway Men."

In the film, Junaid portrays a journalist challenging powerful figures. Besides "Maharaj," Junaid also has another upcoming release, the remake of "Love Today," produced by Aamir Khan.
