A publication forced me to reveal divorce before I was ready, says Kusha Kapila
text_fieldsSocial media influencer and actor Kusha Kapila revealed details about her divorce from Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia in a recent interview. "We got a call from a publication saying that they have found out about the separation." said Kusha.
Kapila spoke to The Lallantop about the emotional and private nature of the decision, emphasising that it was initially meant to be kept within the family. However, she disclosed that a publication pressured them to release a public statement, forcing them to share the news on their terms.
Kapila recalled the unsettling moment when a publication informed her about their intention to publish the story, prompting the need for a public announcement. She emphasised the sacredness of the private moment, stating, "It was our private moment, it was a sacred moment for us." The publication's ultimatum left Kapila and Ahluwalia with the choice to either deny the matter or allow the story to be published.
Feeling pressured, Kapila consulted with Ahluwalia and shared her concerns about the potential media trial that could develop around their separation. Ahluwalia reassured her, saying they could address it when she felt ready.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the public disclosure, Kapila acknowledged the challenges she faced, becoming a subject of scrutiny and criticism. The forced statement, however, eventually provided her with a sense of peace and calm.
In June of the previous year, Kusha Kapila and Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia announced their mutual decision to part ways. The statement highlighted the difficulty of the decision and expressed gratitude for the love and life they shared. Despite the challenges, the couple pledged to co-parent their dog, Maya, and continue to support each other.
Kapila and Ahluwalia, who married in 2017 after several years of dating, faced online trolling following their separation announcement. Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia had spoken out against the distasteful comments directed at Kusha Kapila, defending her from online attacks.
