McDonald’s opens its largest overseas innovation hub in Hyderabad
text_fieldsGlobal fast-food giant McDonald’s has officially launched its largest Global Capability Centre (GCC) outside the United States in Hyderabad’s HITEC City.
The new facility, spanning 1.56 lakh square feet, marks a major milestone in the company’s global expansion and reinforces Hyderabad’s status as a key hub for international business and technology operations.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Wednesday and was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister for IT & Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu. The leaders hailed the development as a significant boost to the state’s growing innovation and enterprise ecosystem.
The centre has been designated as McDonald’s Global Hub for Innovation and Enterprise Operations. It will focus on critical functions such as technology, data analytics, finance, and other corporate services that support the brand’s global operations.
The move is expected to serve as a major economic booster for the region. The Global Capability Centre will create direct employment opportunities for more than 1,200 highly skilled professionals.
In addition to job creation, the investment is expected to generate a positive ripple effect across allied sectors such as commercial real estate, services, and logistics, further driving economic growth in the state.
Founded in 1940, McDonald’s is one of the world’s largest fast-food chains, serving millions of customers each day across more than 100 countries. In India, the company operates through two master franchisees and offers a menu adapted to suit local tastes.
Over the years, McDonald’s has expanded beyond its quick-service restaurant model to focus on technology-driven innovation and sustainable business practices worldwide.
