Jaguar Land Rover to halt US shipments in April amid tariff challenges
text_fieldsJaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a temporary suspension of vehicle shipments to the United States for the month of April, citing the impact of newly introduced US trade tariffs.
In a statement released on Saturday, the UK-based luxury automaker said the decision was part of short-term measures being taken to adapt to the recent changes in trade conditions implemented by the US government.
"The USA is an important market for JLR's luxury brands. As we work to address the new trading terms with our business partners, we are enacting our short-term actions, including a shipment pause in April, as we develop our mid- to longer-term plans," a company spokesperson told AFP.
The pause comes as Jaguar Land Rover evaluates its long-term strategy to navigate the new trading environment. While the company did not provide specific details on the tariffs or their impact, the move highlights the growing ripple effects of protectionist trade policies on global auto manufacturers.
JLR has not indicated how long the pause will last beyond April or when shipments to the US market will resume.
