Trump renews Nobel Peace Prize claim, says he ‘settled eight wars’
text_fieldsUS President Donald Trump has mounted a fresh campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize, asserting that he deserves the award for having “settled eight wars” and achieved feats no other president has matched.
Addressing reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, just two days before the Norwegian Nobel Committee is due to announce the 2026 laureate, Trump said his peacemaking record set him apart from all predecessors. “I’ve done stuff that nobody else has ever done. I’m not bragging, I’m just telling you the facts. No president has probably ever settled any wars. I settled eight wars,” he said.
The President suggested that denying him the prize would damage the credibility of the Nobel institution itself. “They have a reputation for maybe not giving it to people like me,” Trump said. “But, whether I get it or not, I have done far more. And I think it would be a great discredit to them… when you settle eight wars, and nobody’s never.”
