Trump officials set to link Tylenol to autism risk: report

New York: Donald Trump’s administration is likely to link on Monday the women’s use of medicine Tylenol, also known as paracetamol, to a risk of autism, The Guardian reported.
It is reported citing The Washington Post that Trump officials are likely to declare an ‘effort to explore’ drug leucovorin in treating autism.
The over-the-counter pain medication Tylenol, according to medical guidelines, is safe for pregnant women.
Its active ingredient known as acetaminophen in the US is called paracetamol elsewhere in the world.
Trump on Sunday, addressing the memorial for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, announced that ‘I think we found an answer to autism.’
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Trump’s health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr would declare that pregnant women using Tylenol was potentially linked to autism spectrum disorder.
Kennedy also claimed that the US was facing ‘autism epidemic’ stemming from ‘environmental toxins’.
Scientists are still clueless about the causes behind autism, the neurodevelopmental condition involving ‘social as well as communication difficulties and behaviors that are repetitive’.
