Trump eyes Iran's full leadership overhaul, prefers 'good leader' of his choosing
text_fieldsWashington: President Donald Trump said Thursday he wants Iran's entire leadership structure dismantled, naming preferences for a successor while downplaying a US ground invasion.
In an NBC News phone call, Trump stated: "We want to go in and clean out everything. We want them to have a good leader. We have some people who I think would do a good job" He declined names but added he's protecting them: "We are watching them, yeah."
Expanding on Saturday remarks, Trump quipped Iran might call him for leader picks. Responding to Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi's invasion challenge, he dismissed it: "Wasted comment. It’s a waste of time. They’ve lost everything. They’ve lost their navy. They’ve lost everything they can lose."
Iran reels after Supreme Leader Khamenei's sudden muder, with son Mojtaba rumored as heir. The IRGC eyes more control if it endures the conflict.
Trump vented frustration over stalled SAVE America Act (citizenship proof for voting), threatening shutdown: "I would close government over it. To me, that’s a core belief."
