Moscow's assault on Ukraine in an attempt to invade the neighobouring nation has been going on for over three months.
A message from separatists on Wednesday said they are close to circling the eastern town of Avdiivka. One of the two main roads to the industrial town is blocked by the pro-Moscow separatist group. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian-occupied Ukrainian regions of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donbas must decide their own futures.
Zelenski recently said Russia is counting on a famine crisis in Europe. Russia has blocked Ukrainian ports to stop other nations from sending help in the form of food and weapons. This has prevented grain exports which led to a price hike in Europe.
Peskov added a peace document was in the works but it was stopped a long time ago. Moscow did not rule out a negotiation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But the meeting was stalled.
