Pushpa 2 stampede: Telangana DGP emphasizes citizen safety
text_fieldsHyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender on Sunday emphasized the importance of prioritizing citizen safety, urging film personalities and the public to act responsibly. His remarks followed the tragic stampede at a theatre during the screening of 'Pushpa-2' earlier this month, which led to the death of a woman and injuries to her 8-year-old son, and the subsequent comments made by Telugu actor Allu Arjun.
Speaking to reporters in Karimnagar district, DGP Jitender clarified that the police have no personal grievances against any individual but underscored the collective responsibility to ensure public safety. He highlighted that while film personalities may be celebrated as heroes on screen, they must recognize the social issues at hand in real life. He further stated that film promotions should not be prioritized over the safety of citizens and that the tragic incident should serve as a reminder of the importance of preventing such events in the future.
The stampede occurred earlier this month during the screening of 'Pushpa-2 in Hyderabad. Allu Arjun, who was present at the venue, was arrested in connection with the incident but was granted interim bail by the high court.
