Toronto: A cabin crew member of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has gone missing after landing in Canada’s Toronto on Monday, Dawn reported.

The air hostess, identified as Maryam Raza, was to have reported for duty a day later on the return flight PK-784 to Karachi but she did not turn up.

Raza, who joined the national carrier 15 years ago, is one of the several PIA staffers to have ‘vanished’ in Canada in recent years.

Looking for Raza, the authorities opened her hotel room only to find her PIA uniform along with a note reading ‘Thank You, PIA’.

Raza's disappearance marks the second such incident this year, an airline's spokesperson reportedly said.

Another PIA flight crew member Fazia Mukhtar, who had to fly back a day after landing in Canada, disappeared a similar fashion last month.

The trend of Pakistani flight attendants vanishing in Canada started in 2019.

At least seven PIA cabin crew members went missing in Canada last year while on flight duties.

The trend is attributed to the accommodating nature of Canadian law, allowing asylum applications after entering into the country.
