New Delhi: Vising Indian Prime Minister Modi received a warm welcome in Germany where he landed on the first leg of his three-day visit to Europe on Monday.

Afterwards PM Modi met his German counterpart Chancellor Olaf Scholz and both leaders discussed an array of issues including their overall strategic partnership.

Given the raging war in Eastern Europe, analysts hoped their discussion would invariably touch issues surrounding it.

The German leader reportedly underlined that Russia violated international law and UN charter by invading Ukraine.

However, PM Modi said only so much that borders should not be changed through violence, according to The Indian Express.

Without giving the name of Russia, Modi reportedly said there would be no winning party in this war and added that everyone would suffer.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz invited Modi to the G-7 meeting to be held in Germany in June.

The meeting between both leaders preceded the sixth-round of Biennial Inter Governmental Consultations (IGC) between India and Germany.

India's Ministry of External Affairs stated that discussions covered key areas of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global developments.

PM Modi had earlier met Chancellor Scholz at G20 last year when Scholz was Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister of Germany.

Berlin is Modi's first stop in the three-nation visit to Germany, Denmark, and France.

After landing in the German capital, Modi tweeted he would be holding talks with Chancellor OlafScholz, alongside interacting with business leaders and addressing a community programme.

Alongside, several people from the Indian community turned out to welcome the Prime Minister. PM Modi tweeted that India was proud of the accomplishments of its diaspora
