Islamabad: Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif blamed his country’s economic crisis on the ‘bad governance’ of former PM Imran Khan.

Pakistan has recently received life-saving financial aid from IMF after the country threatened to fall apart from a failing economy.

Sharif told Pakistan’s ARY News that his party came to power in the midst of ‘economic malaise’ that continue to trouble the country, news agency ANI reported.

Sharif accused Khan of destroying the system for his political gains, and violated IMF conditions ‘over no-confidence motion’.

Hinting at Khan’s outbursts against the US when he was in power, Sherif said PTI chairman ‘destabilized’ the country’s relations with key allies.

The prime minister alongside alleged that the May 9 incidents, referring to the violence following the arrest of Khan, were all ‘preplanned for more than a year’.

He called the riots involving PTI workers a ‘conspiracy to instigate a coup’ within the army.

Calling the violence as heartening, he said it exposed PTI chairman before the nation.

Earlier, on Sunday, Sherif asked people to avenge what he said ‘the rigging of the 2018 general polls’ by defeating the ‘political masquerades’ through the upcoming polls.

He alleged that Imran Khan and his clique came to power in 2018 by rigging elections, ARY News reported.

The prime minister was laying foundation for developmental projects including Faisalabad Satyana bypass yesterday when he made the comments.
