Hospital staff in China asked to work even if infected with Covid

After China started experiencing an explosion in covid cases, authorities asked hospitals staff to continue work even if they are infected.

The viruses roared back after the government relaxed restrictions infecting up to 80 percent of staff in some hospitals, Reuters reported.

One doctor who did not given his name was quoted as saying that surgeries and operations have been cancelled.

Invasive treatments are not allowed unless the patient was "dying tomorrow", according to the doctor.

For the past several months China has been devising ways to stop the spread of frequently emerging wave of infections.

The government introduced the unpopular zero covid policy which included harsh restriction like lockdowns.

The country grinned and bore several phases of lockdowns in key places, before it fueled massive protests a couple of weeks ago.

Western observers found political overtones in the protest expecting nationwide rebellious protests.

In the event of latest covid outbreak, a senior World Health Organization official said the outbreak started 'long before'.

Authorities have said it is "impossible" to measure, since most people are not being tested, according to the report.

Meanwhile, WHO emergencies chief Michael Ryan said that "There's a narrative that, in some way, China lifted the restrictions and all of a sudden, the disease is out of control"

A doctor named Li from Sichuan reportedly said that the tertiary hospital here is overwhelmed with patients.

Somebody wrote on Weibo to say that 80 percent of the newly admitted to a hospital are positive.

It is reported that the outbreak is not limited to Beijing as residents across major cities reported cases everywhere.

Meanwhile The White House offered to help China managing the number of cases.
