Fox News intentionally aided Trump with biased editorial policy in 2020
text_fieldsWashington: American multinational conservative news and political commentary television channel, Fox News, was intentionally aiding US President Donald Trump his Republican party, The Guardian reported.
The report was based on an anonymous internal survey of employees of the network in 2020, precisely between 24 August 2020 and 8 September 2020. It should be noted that that was the year Trump was running for president for a second consecutive term, but failed.
The survey outcome and the statements by Fox News’ employees are now part of a defamation lawsuit against the broadcaster by voting technology company Smartmatic.
According to the legal filings, employees expressed concerns about the network’s editorial standards and the conduct of top hosts. One of them even commented out of concern that if the channel sold itself to the devil.
A second employee said that Fox should change the misogynist, racist, rightwing content”. The person also opined that Fox News is a propaganda machine for the Republican Party and not a news organisation, and should be acknowledged as such. According to the person, it is embarrassing to tell people that they work there. Everyone knows that Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network are biased information sources. The person also said that the content churned out by the news house is hateful and has made the world “a more divided and angry place”.
Another employee said that the channel must get out of Trump’s pocket and added that its top hosts, like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, are peddling conspiracy theories.
An employee commented that the management should crack down on conspiracy theories and hateful rhetoric spewed by hosts. Another opined that “there’s a fear that we cannot anger the president or his most zealous supporters, and have abdicated all pretence of truthful reporting”, The Guardian quoted.
The anonymous survey, titled “Fox News 2020 Great Place to Work Trust Index Survey”, was conducted among 1,040 employees.
