After five of its soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire with terrorists across the border, Pakistan publicly condemned the use of Afghan soil against it for the first time since the Taliban took over the country.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kurram district, soldiers were shot at by terrorists in Afghanistan, the military's media affairs wing reported on Sunday.

A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that terrorists from inside Afghanistan fired at Pakistani troops in the Kurram district. The ISPR added that Pakistani troops responded in "a fitting manner".

According to the statement, terrorists suffered heavy casualties due to the fire of our own troops.

As stated in the ISPR statement, "Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan and expects the interim Afghan government not to allow such activities to be conducted in the future."

According to the Pakistan Army, our brave men's sacrifices further strengthen our resolve to defend Pakistan's borders against terror.

It was claimed that the TTP, a banned terrorist organization, was responsible for the attack.

ISPR reports that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) near Dial road in Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which one suicide bomber was killed.

Security forces conducted the operation on "confirmed intelligence reports of presence of" terrorists belonging to the proscribed TTP. "During the operation, a suicide bomber has been killed," the statement added.
