Chinese President Xi Jinping

Shanghai: Chinese President Xi Jinping proclaimed on Friday that Beijing would continue being cooperative with other nations to share opportunities. He was addressing the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Reuters reported.

In his video address, Xi said that China would welcome more foreign investment and speed up constriction projects in the country like the Hainan free trade port.

He said that China would urge countries and parties to share opportunities to deepen international cooperation. It will participate completely in reforming the World Trade Organisation as well as promote trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation.

In China, Xi Jinping became the general secretary of the ruling Communist Party's congress last month. At the congress, which is held twice in a decade, he told the party to be ready for hardship and to strengthen national security.

In 2018, China launched a fair focused on the import of foreign goods called CIIE. It exhibited the country's free trade credentials.

Organisers of the event, which runs from November 5-10, informed that companies from 127 countries and regions would exhibit their products and services there.
