Kathmandu: A state Nepal state-sponsored report accused China of intruding on Nepal's lands along their borders. It said that Chinese forces threatened Nepal's border police, Asian News International reported.

The particular report was commissioned after reports arose that China was trespassing into Nepal's Humla district.

The report alleged that Chinese forces had restricted religious activities on Nepal's territory at the border area of Lalungjong. The troops were also restraining Nepalese farmers' cattle grazing. China is building a fence around a pillar and is planning to construct a canal as well as a road within Nepal territory. The report suggested the deployment of forces at the border area in order to step security up.

But, the crucial fact is that the Nepal administration didn't publish the report but was leaked. The report, dated September 2021, has all the evidence, but it lay pending at the Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

However, after the leak, Nepal Communication Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki responded that any border issues involving their neighbours would be de dealt with through diplomacy, whether it is India or China. The Nepal administration will take the required efforts to prevent such situations if possible, he said.

After seeing that the Nepal government is giving less attention to the issue, the Chairperson of Rashtriya Ekta Abhiyan Binay Yadav tabled a memorandum before the United Nations and urged the international community to take notice of the Chinese movement.

"According to the study, the area between pillar number 5 (2) and the middle of the Kit Khola has been marked as the border between the two countries since the 1963 Boundary Protocol," the memorandum read. It also mentioned China posting fences and wires inside Nepal.

Even though there were reports of Chinese illicit land grab moves at Nepal borders and ensued civilian protests in Kathmandu, China, through its embassy in Nepal, maintained that there is no dispute and Nepali people "should not be misled" with false narratives.
