Bandar Seri Begawan: The 32-year-old Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei is set to marry a commoner on Thursday.

Abdul Mateen will marry his 29-year-old fiancé Yang Mulia Anisha in a lavish ceremony lasting ten days, news agency AFP reported.

The wedding will be held inside a gold-domed mosque in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan.

Mateen’s father, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is the world's longest reigning monarch and once the richest man on the planet.

Mateen, the 10 th child of the monarch, is unlikely ever to ascend throne but has a huge social media following for his movie-star looks.

His bride is the granddaughter of one of his father's key advisers, and she runs a fashion brand and co-owns a tourism business.

The glittering ceremony with pageantry and pomp will hit the climax on Sunday at the 1,788-room palace.

A large number of Bruneians will line up the streets on Sunday to see the couple passing by in royal carriage.

The tiny country with a population of 450,000 is known for its extreme wealth sourcing from its enormous oil reserves.

The monarch, still possessing vast collection of luxury vehicles and fancy residences, is no longer the world’s richest man after tech billionaires emerged on the scene.
