Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that a "powerful country" opposed his Russian visit and got furious with him, IANS reported citing news agency The News.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Islamabad Security dialogue, Imran said, "A very powerful state asked us why did we go to Russia. They are asking a state as to why did we visit Russia. On top of that, they are angry with us." His statement comes a day after he revealed that the United States had sent Pakistan a threatening memo.

Further, he said that the same state is helping India, despite India trading and thinking about importing oil from Russia, while Moscow staggers under sanctions after its invasion of Ukraine. He said that the UK Foreign Secretary had stated that London could not interfere in India's internal matters, but Imran asked, "So what are we?" "But I don't blame them. The person who has stitched an achkan for himself stated in an interview yesterday that we should not make the US angry," Khan said.

Imran said that they are at this juncture because of some people who sacrificed the nation not for the country's interest but for the elite. The Pak Prime Minister said that decisions of politicians before have led to the situation where no countries respect Pakistan. "They order us. They say that if the no-confidence does not become successful, then there will be consequences for Pakistan," he said.

He reiterated that inclusive prosperity, the rule of law and an independent foreign policy are crucial elements for the national security of any nation.
