Bangalore: In an initiative aiming at the tourists from Kerala and Karnataka, the state RTCs are considering to launch an inter-state tour package.

As per reports, Kerala RTC MD Biju Prabhakar has discussed the matter with Karnataka RTC MD Sivayogi Kalasad. The discussion was held at the central office of the Karnataka RTC in Bangalore.

The two discussed the possibility of starting more bus services via Sultan Bathery and the launch of service on the new routes by the two RTCs and the inter-state agreement.

Both the corporations will appoint a special committee to study the matter. They also discussed the possibility of starting more bus services through the Bandipur forest, where night travel is banned. The CMDs' discussion followed the suggestion of Minister Antony Raju. The longest route to Bangalore via Sultan Bathery will be operated in association with Karnataka RTC. At present KSRTC has only two services through this.

Currently, Kerala RTC has started bus services to Malakkapara and other parts of Kerala as a tour package. Karnataka RTC is also successfully running tour packages to various places in Karnataka such as Jog Falls and Hampi. It is in this context that the two RTC officials discussed the possibility of inter-state tour package services

Biju Prabhakar has also learned about the duty pattern and financial position of Karnataka RTC. According to Karnataka RTC officials, Kerala RTC has responded favorably to the inter-state agreement. Various officials of both the RTCs also participated in the discussion.
