Youtube reveals remuneration paid to YouTubers

Google's YouTube is not a mere video sharing platform today. It has become a vast society where people make diverse content. The platform, which grew without much competition, is still running ahead with immense popularity. YouTube has helped shape the professional careers of millions of content creators. That it gave jobs to those facing unemployment or those who left heavily paid jobs citing lack of interest continues to attract many.

In the last three years alone, YouTube paid its content creators 30 billion US dollars which is more than two lakh crore Indian rupees, revealed YouTube CEO, Susan Wojcicki. According to reports, YouTube's contribution to the US economy (GDP) in 2019 was 16 billion US dollars. As per Oxford Economics' reports, this is equal to 345,000 full-time jobs in the country.

For the last three years, YouTube diversified their sources of income too, says Wojcicki. According to her, the creator's revenue from super stickers, super chats, and member subscriptions tripled in 2020. Also, the number of channels under the company's partner programme doubled.

Susan Wojcicki noted that in 2021, several measures would be taken to improve the platform for creators. Regarding YouTube's policies for YouTubers, the company would become more transparent and increase the efficiency of appeals, she added.
