YouTube faces global outage, thousands report streaming issues
text_fieldsAlphabet-owned YouTube experienced a major outage on Wednesday, disrupting video streaming for thousands of users across the world, including in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, according to Downdetector.
YouTube acknowledged the glitch on its status page, confirming that it is aware of users facing difficulties watching videos. The platform said it is currently investigating the issue. However, the cause of the disruption remains unclear.
At around 7:55 p.m. ET (local time), more than 366,000 users in the United States alone reported streaming problems, as per Downdetector’s data.
Providing an update on X (formerly Twitter), Downdetector said, “An ongoing issue with YouTube has now received over 800,000 reports since being identified at 7:12 pm ET.”
YouTube has not yet provided an estimated timeline for restoring full service.
