X to use Grok AI to summarise news events within app
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Elon Musk's social network X will begin utilising xAI's chatbot Grok to summarise news events inside the app.
The company revealed on Friday that the AI-generated summaries would only be accessible to premium users and would be based on user tweets rather than news articles from outside sources. Though Musk told the tech newsletter Big Technology that stronger citations are on the way, the feature, named "Stories," does not presently cite any news sources.
“As more information becomes available, the news summary will update to include that information,” Musk told Big Technology, which reported earlier on the feature. Although Grok, the AI chatbot, is technically owned by X, it is actually a part of xAI, another one of Musk's firms that is focused on artificial intelligence. He has been transparent about the fact that posts from X are used to train Grok, NDTV reported.
Moments, a similar product from X, formerly known as Twitter, relied on human moderators to create news summaries. The product was discontinued soon after Musk assumed leadership in late 2022.
Due to his "very heavy" responsibilities at Tesla, Musk had to postpone a trip to India earlier this year that included a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year,” the billionaire said in a post on X. He was supposed to come for two days, on April 21 and 22, to make an announcement about his intentions to join the Indian market.
