Two employees laid off by Elon Musk announces a rival Twitter-like app

New Delhi: Two former Twitter employees have bonded over creating an alternative platform for Twitter.

Alphonzo Phonz Terrell and DeVaris Brown were both laid off by Musk during the mass layoff in November.

Rather than spend time blaming Musk, the two key former Twitter employees announced about building what they call " Spill".

Alphonzo Phonz Terrell served as Twitter's global head of social and editorial until he was laid off weeks after Musk had taken over the platform.

DeVaris Brown was a product manager lead at Twitter taking care of machine learning, when he was showed the door last month.

They reportedly claimed the new platform to be an alternative to Twitter, catering to "culture drivers".

The app, getting ready for launch in January, will serve as 'a real-time conversational platform that puts culture first'.

Talking to TechCruch, the creators of Spill said they wanted to create a space to highlight cultural contributions alongside offering 'Black creators, Queer creators, and a variety of influential voices outside the U.S,"

"While Spill is for everyone, we are catering to culture drivers who frequently set new trends yet routinely get overlooked and under compensated," Terrell wrote in his announcement post for Spill according to India Today.

Spill have features including what the builders said "tea parties" that will allow uses gather online or real life connect.

Meanwhile, Musk is reportedly piloting to build of what he calls -- the Twitter 2.0.
