Twitter blue tick subscription in India in less than a month: report
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Ending speculations Twitter's new boss Elon Musk has reportedly said that the social media company will charge for the blue and white tick.
Announcing a slew of new features, Musk, who is the company's sole board member, has confirmed that users will have to pay $8 every single month for the blue tick, according to India Today.
Currently, the blue tick verification comes free of cost and now on the company will ask users to apply for verification by submitting their details which Twitter officials will verify before assigning blue ticks.
Twitter will start with blue verification subscription in select countries including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Responding to a user who asked when it would arrive in India Musk said "less than a month".
However he wouldn't expand on the subscription price set for India.
The subscription will come with some new features, especially it will offer half the ads and as the report said "much better ones".
Besides, the blue users can post longer videos on the platform alongside they will be rewarded with half the ads, making them "twice as relevant".
An update from the social media company said that the subscription will offer priority ranking for quality content.
Expanding further it said the content will get "priority ranking in replies, mentions and search. This helps the visibility of scams, spams and bots".
Twitter will soon allow users to attach long-form text to tweets putting an end to notepad screenshots, according to the report.
Another fascinating offer to come soon, according to the report, is "creator monetization for all forms of content".
With Musk's entry, Twitter has reportedly laid off almost half of its workforce including entire marketing, partner relations, and sales, among others.
