New Delhi: Nothing is more shocking for an employee than waking up reading an email about job loss.

Many who lost jobs at social media companies are still reeling from the sudden turn of events.

There is no way for them to substitute the absence of monthly paycheck, while unpaid bills pile up.

However not everybody out there is crying over the spilt milk because a lot of them take it as an opportunity to escape from their tiring work.

It is like this: a lot of employees working for major companies are afraid of venturing out of their safe zones and pursuing something they always loved to do.

A pink slip suddenly gives them an opportunity to pursue these dreams and make new choices for life, so they are particularly elated, shows a report by Bloomberg.

The strange incongruity today in job market, according to the report, is that the unemployment rate fell to its lowest level since 1969 in January, the report said.

This is despite thousands of people being laid off from big tech companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon.

In this strange situation, many employees take job loss without any fuss and go ahead spending more time on hobbies, before lining up for better opportunities.

The report narrates the story of 26-year-old Bobin Singh, who was in a sense of ‘jubilee’ after being laid off as a social media producer in Los Angeles, and turned to freelance video editing.

"My New Year's resolution was to work less to have more time to do passion projects," Singh reportedly said.

In a more revealing find, nearly 20% of Gen Z and 15% of millennials are reported to be happy if they were laid off, according to a survey by the Harris Poll for Bloomberg.
