After Elon Musk completed his $44 billion takeover of Twitter, many celebrities expressed concerns about how the platform will impose regulations on hate speech. Musk has been a vocal advocate of absolute freedom of speech while many interpret it as 'speech without consequences'.

Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes is one of the celebrities who quit the platform due to concerns about the microblogging platform becoming a ground for hate speech. She had 1.9 million followers. In her last tweet, she wrote: "Not hanging around for whatever Elon has planned. Bye."

This Is Us producer Ken Olin also took the same step and wrote: "The day @elonmusk takes ownership of Twitter, I'm out. No judgement. Let's keep the faith. Let's protect our democracy. Let's try to be kinder. Let's try to save the planet. Let's try to be more generous. Let's look to find peace in the world."

Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles also quit the platform and wrote: "Welp. It's been fun Twitter. I'm out. See you on other platforms, peeps. Sorry, this one's just not for me." Actress Jameela Jamil also exited the platform and tweeted: "One good thing about Elon buying Twitter is that I will *FINALLY* leave and stop being a complete menace to society here. So it's a() win-win for you all really."

Billions showrunner Brian Koppelman also left the platform and asked his followers to find him on Instagram. Bill & Ted star Alex Winter has scrubbed his tweet history and left a Linktree address.

Musk earlier said he will reverse the permanent ban which means Donald Trump and Kanye West can make a comeback to the platform.
