Apple Inc, the Cupertino-giant, is planning to launch their iPhone 13 line-up in the coming year and this upcoming series will have an optical in-display fingertip sensor.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Apple is set to introduce the new optical in-display sensor as a secondary biometric option alongside the Face ID recognition system. Having both these features will enable better security to the users and enable unlocking phones while wearing a mask.

Apple may also include some of the features from the Samsung Galaxy S21, which grabbed eye-balls in the smartphone sector, in the upcoming series.

According to the report, a former employee revealed that the company is currently working with optical sensors for in-screen fingerprint reading. This new feature is said to be more reliable than an ultrasonic solution and is already available on android phones.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, revealed that Apple is working on the optical in-display fingerprint and might introduce it with the iPhone 13 series.

While all the iPhone 12 series are equipped with f/2.4, 5P (five-element lens) ultra-wide cameras with fixed focus, the ultra-wide cameras on the two high-end models in the new iPhone 13 will be significantly upgraded to f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus.

The new series is also expected to come with the support for Wi-Fi 6E technology. The Wi-Fi 6E provides Wi-Fi six features and capabilities, including higher performance, lower latency, and faster data rates.

With multiple new technologies, the iPhone 13 could see a significant shift in users and push the device forward.
