Instagram plan on letting users add songs to their profiles

Instagram is reportedly trying out a new feature that will allow users to add a song to their profile. It is similar to a feature that Myspace had between 200 and 2008.

If introduced, a featured song will appear below the bio on your Instagram profile. A spokesperson confirmed that the feature is now an "internal prototype". Screenshots shared by tipster Alessandro Paluzzi suggest that people are not currently able to play the featured song but this is likely to change in the future. However, there is no guarantee Instagram will implement this feature unless there is external testing.

According to Paluzzi, the feature appears following the link in the bio section. He took to Twitter to demonstrate how to add a song to your profile using screenshots. Users will be accessing it via the edit profile section.

After Myspace began to decline in 2009, the song feature did not completely disappear from the internet. Dating apps like Hinge allow users to add songs to their profiles.
