Google launches its chatbot to take on ChatGPT in US and UK
text_fieldsNew York: Google in its efforts to catch up with sensational ChatGPT has introduced a test version AI chatbot called Bard in the US and UK.
Now people across Atlantic can test how efficient Bard is in delivering essays, poems and computer codes on command.
The Microsoft-backed ChatGPT has taken the tech-world by storm becoming the next biggest thing happening in tech since iPhone, according to a report by news agency AFP.
When ChatGPT began sweeping away internet users, Google couldn’t sit back any more with its aging search engine.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai, despite facing criticism for rushing, led his team into action, and there materialised Bard initiating new level of competition in the tech market.
After testing the technology with 80,000 employees, Google will take chatbot to the UK and US public, before going out to more countries, Pichai told staff on Tuesday.
“As more people start to use Bard and test its capabilities, they’ll surprise us,” a memo by Pichai reportedly said.
Pichai said that user feedback is critical to improve the chatbot and its underlying technology.
Those wishing to experience Bard has to sign onto a waitlist, which is different from Google’s search engine, according to the report.
Google vice presidents Sissie Hsiao and Eli Collins said that next critical step in improving the technology is feedback from people.
News agency AFP during an interaction with chatbot Bard asked how it is different from ChatGPT. Bard replied that unlike ChatGPT, it can process information from real world through Google search, giving responses ‘consistent with search results’.
Bard, however, admitted that it is still under development with learning and improving over the course but Chat GPT is likely to ‘remain unchanged’.
