Google India lays off 'Star Performer’ of the month, employee still in shock

New Delhi: As layoffs at IT companies go crazy, workers are in a state of constant anxiety thinking over whose turn is next.

However, some best performing employees continue work diligently with the gut feeling that they will be spared by the axe.

A Google India employee from Hyderabad had the same assumption until the whole world collapsed around his ears one morning after receiving the layoff-mail.

Google has reportedly sacked around 450 employees across various departments in India, according to NDTV.

Employees who have been affected by layoffs began sharing their grief and shock on social media.

Google employee from Hyderabad, who is still reeling from losing the job, shared on LinkedIn his shock.

The lengthy post said he received the mail on his phone from Google Operations Center that bluntly informed him of laying off on Saturday.

He was reportedly fired after the company had honoured him with the badge, the ‘star’ performer of the month.

“ I was a proud #Googler and will always be... I had a very first question why me though I was star performer for month still why me? And I see there was no answer at all!'', the post reportedly read.

The job loss, like in the cases of thousands of other workers who lost their jobs recently, ruined his financial plans all of a sudden, leaving him dazed for two days.

The former Google employee said he will have to fight back for survival, and it took two days for him to gain strength to jot down his experience.

He appealed people on LinkedIn to suggest a better opportunity available for him.

Another Google employee Aakriti Walia, who recently celebrated her 5 years of working at Google, was laid off.

The message that informed of the bombshell left her benumbed, according to the report.
