Gmail goes down in several servers, Users flag problems

New Delhi: Google's email service Gmail went down for several users on Saturday. Both app and desktop versions were inaccessible.
Many users across the globe complained that mails are not getting delivered and service not responding. Outage monitoring website Downdetector tweeted: "User reports indicate Gmail has been having problems since 9:12 AM EST." It also noted a sharp increase in the number of cases of Gmail's outage over the past 24 hours.
Many took to social media to ask whether the service was down in certain areas because they are not able to send or receive emails. Prior to this outage, Google's email service had become particularly slow.
Google's own app status dashboard showed that there is an issue with the service. The information for Gmail said: "We are experiencing an issue with Gmail. Users may experience delays in email delivery. Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue. We will provide an update by Saturday, 2022-12-10 08:30 US/Pacific with current details."
"Mitigation is currently underway and email delivery is no longer failing, however, the Google Engineering team is now working through the backlog of undelivered messages and expect all messages to be delivered in the next few hours," added the update.
Users across India complained of undelivered emails and an unresponsive Gmail app. After almost two hours, the service was back online.
