Tech News: Last week, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman set off a “code red” alert to employees. The “code red” alert is an urgent order to employees to complete urgent upgrades on a war footing to save their prized product, ChatGPT, from the push of Google Gemini 3.

OpenAI, which was shaken by the arrival of Google Gemini 3, which ended its dominance in the world of artificial intelligence, has declared “code red” as a fight back. Last week marked three years since OpenAI first released ChatGPT, helping to spark global fascination and a commercial boom in generative AI technology.

The company is conducting several research experiments to protect the future and dominance of ChatGPT, while Google is conquering the AI market with the introduction of Gemini 3. With the announcement of “code red” at the behest of Open AI CEO Sam Altman, the main focus of all the teams in the company has shifted to the sole goal of greatly improving the chatbot speed, personal features, and reliability of ChatGPT.

OpenAI was concerned by the assessments that Gemini 3 surpassed ChatGPT in several criteria. Gemini 3 is now showing brilliant performance in multi-modal capabilities, logical reasoning, and response speed. Therefore, OpenAI has also become more nervous. With the announcement of “code red”, OpenAI has temporarily postponed non-core experimental projects and new features.

According to the Associated Press, despite ChatGPT having more than 800 million weekly users and being valued at $500 million, it doesn’t make a profit and has committed more than $1 trillion in financial obligations to the cloud computing providers and chipmakers it relies on to power its AI systems. When Google makes money from its dominant search business by selling ads, OpenAI is yet to start it.
