New York: Twitter owner Elon Musk has announced on Thursday that the new chief executive officer for the social media platform will start working in about six weeks.

Musk however has not named the individual giving rise to speculations about the potential candidate which singularly happen around NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino.

Yaccarino, chair of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal Media, has not yet responded to media reports regarding her new role.

Musk and Yaccarino appears to be friends from her addressing of him as ‘ friend’ and ‘buddy’ on stage during an advertising conference in Miami last month, according to a Bloomberg report .

With the new leader in charge of Twitter, Musk will move to the background taking up the role of being the chief technologist.

While taking over Twitter for $ 44 billion last October, Musk said he would be in charge only for a limited time until working out ‘organizational overhaul’.

More than half of his Twitter followers at 57.5 per cent asked him to step down as CEO when he asked their opinion in December.

However, Musk will continue at Twitter as executive chairman after the transition even as new hand takes over the functions.

Meanwhile, Musk faced criticism over alleged neglect of his other businesses as he spent most of the time at Twitter often sleeping at its San Francisco headquarters.

The next CEO will have to deal with a plummeting advertisement revenue which has fallen by 50 percent since October, according to the report.

Alongside, Musk has plans to take Twitter beyond a public platform to ‘everything app’ that will offer financial services as well.
