Apple to integrate Gemini-Powered Features for iPhones
text_fieldsApple is in talks with Google to introduce Gemini-powered features to iPhones, reports say. The technology giant Google is focusing on developing its language model and new AI capabilities for iOS 18. The collaboration between the two industry leaders also has the potential to disrupt the AI industry and provide a significant boost to Google Gemini.
As per information from industry sources reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is considering licensing the foundational technology of Google Gemini to introduce AI-driven capabilities in the upcoming version of iOS, potentially making it the most significant iOS update in years.
Gurman also mentioned that the AI-driven features expected on Apple's iOS 18 will probably operate directly on the device, revealing that they may not carry out complex tasks such as providing writing suggestions and assisting in image creation.
Google has previously collaborated with companies such as Samsung to introduce generative AI capabilities on the recently launched Galaxy S24 series, such as Circle to Search. However, Google may not be the only AI company in discussions with Apple. The report also hints that Apple and OpenAI are having conversations about the application of GPT models.
If Google manages to draw a deal with Apple, it would mark a significant boost to Gemini in the fiercely competitive AI industry.
