Birmingham: Kerala-based athletes Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker win Gold and Silver for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 men's triple jump on Sunday, writing history.
Indian President Draupadi Murmu congratulated both saying that their win was a historic achievement to be proud of for eternity, Asianet News reported.

Paul registered 17.03m in his third attempt, his best, followed by compatriot Aboobacker, finishing at 17.02m in his fifth attempt, PTI reported.

Meanwhile, Bermuda's Jah-Nhal Perinchief won bronze with his best jump of 16.92m.

Although India had won four triple jump medals in the earlier editions, this is the first time two athletes from the country made podium finishes.

In 1970 and 1974, Mohinder Singh Gill won a bronze and a silver. Renjith Maheswary and Arpinder Singh finished third in the 2010 and 2014 editions.
