World Cup winner Travis Head wins ICC Player of the Month
text_fieldsCricket: Australian cricketer and the team's rescuer in the ODI World Cup Final last month, Travis Head, became the ICC Men's Player of the Month for November 2023, ANI reports.
Head was running for the title along with explosive batter and teammate Glenn Maxwell and Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, who took 24 wickets in the World Cup tournament, becoming the leading wicket-taker from just seven matches.
Maxwell had fired a double century against Afghanistan, which made him a worthy contender for the title.
Head but had an excellent tournament after scoring 220 ODI runs in November, which includes a half-century and a century.
Winning the title, the 29-year-old paid tribute to his team members for backing him in his journey.
He said that the past 12 months were incredible for the team, and it has been a privilege to be a part of it. "The way we have navigated a home summer, away trips to India, England, South Africa, India and the World Cup has been a great credit to Pat (Cummins), the players and the staff," ICC quoted him, reports ANI.
He said he is fortunate that the team kept faith in him and included him in the World Cup team after he had a hand injury. It was a great opportunity for him to pay them back, he said.
He said it was a great honour being recognized with the award, but he praised the team effort. He said that this type of award is as much for the team as he did.
