The Maldives tourism association and its marketing and public relations corporation have extended a special invitation to the Indian cricket team to celebrate their recent T20 World Cup triumph.

The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, secured the trophy in Barbados by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final on June 29.

In a joint statement, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) and the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) expressed their desire to host the world champions. Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, along with Ahmed Nazeer, Secretary General of MATI, conveyed their eagerness to welcome the team, which returned to India last Thursday to enthusiastic receptions in Delhi and Mumbai, including a grand victory parade.

Shiuree and Nazeer assured that the Maldives would provide a memorable and relaxing experience for the team. They emphasized the invitation as a testament to the strong cultural and sporting ties between the Maldives and India. "We would be honoured to host you and ensure that your stay is filled with memorable moments, relaxation, and bespoke experiences," they said.

Highlighting the significance of the invitation, Shiuree added, "It would be an immense honour for the Maldives to welcome the Indian Cricket Team and share in the joy of their triumph. We eagerly await the opportunity to host them, offering the perfect setting for them to create lasting memories of their victory celebration."

Currently, the Indian cricket team is on a break. Their next international engagement is a six-match limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, beginning on July 27, which includes three ODIs and three T20 Internationals.
