The UAE will adjust the sound of its missile warning alerts during night hours, replacing the loud siren with a softer mobile phone notification tone.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (Ncema) said the system remains fully active to deliver public safety alerts as defence forces continue to warn of inbound projectiles.

Under the updated schedule, from 9am to 10.30pm, residents will hear a loud warning tone followed by a standard text message sound once the threat has been neutralised. Between 10:30pm and 9am, both the initial warning and the follow-up notification will be issued using a standard text message tone.

Authorities reiterated that when a missile alert is received, the public must move immediately to a safe location and remain there until an all-clear message is sent to mobile phones. The second notification will confirm that normal activities can resume while advising continued caution.

Residents are advised to avoid open areas and stay away from windows during interception operations, as falling debris can result from air defense engagements.

Ncema also advised motorists who receive an alert while driving to continue to their destination and seek shelter there rather than stopping abruptly.
