President Sheikh Mohamed has declared February 28 as the Emirati Day for Education, as announced in a recent post on social media platform X. The day will be dedicated to celebrating the pivotal role education has played in the UAE’s growth and development.

The choice of date holds significant historical importance for the UAE.

"On this day in 1982, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's Founding Father, witnessed the graduation of the first batch of teachers from UAE University, marking a historic step in the country's journey of development and growth," President Sheikh Mohamed said in the post.

This event signified a major milestone in the UAE’s commitment to education, laying the foundation for its progress in the years to come.

Sheikh Mohamed also emphasized that this day will honour all those contributing to the field of education in the UAE.

"This day would honour all those working in the field of education, and recognise their essential role in UAE's progress," he added, stressing the critical contributions of educators in the nation's continued advancement.

The Emirati Day for Education will serve as a moment to reflect on the enduring legacy of the UAE's educational achievements and the ongoing efforts to nurture future generations.
