UAE extends entry ban from India until July 6: Air India Express

Dubai: In a bid to combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on Tuesday extended the suspension of passenger flights from India by another week, Air India Express has announced through Twitter.

The India-UAE travel ban initially took effect on April 24 and has been extended currently until July 6. With the ban extended, the last directive which noted that passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE, also stays.

However, UAE nationals, UAE Golden Visas holders and diplomats will be exempted from the travel suspension, given that they adhere to the Covid19 protocols.

"General Authority of Civil Aviation, UAE, has suspended all inbound passenger movement to the UAE from India, (excluding UAE nationals) till 6th July 2021," said India's budget air carrier in a travel update. "Passengers who booked to fly with us during this period can reschedule their tickets for travel at a future date."

UAE's flag carrier Emirates airline announced on May 30 of the flight suspension of commercial flights from India to the country to be extended until June 30, which will now be in force until the first week of July.

The travel update came as India, on Tuesday, reported daily cases less than 1 lakh mark since the past two months with 86,498 new coronavirus infections.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) and GCAA also barred entry on all travellers coming from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka from May 12. Passengers from the UAE to the four countries will be allowed to travel, NCEMA notified.
