UAE announces waiver of traffic violations for Omani citizens since 2018
cancel

Dubai: The UAE government announced the cancellation of all traffic violations by Omani citizens incurred from 2018 to 2023. This decision coincided closely with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq's state visit earlier this week, highlighting a significant diplomatic engagement.

Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, disclosed the immediate start of the fine cancellation initiative for Omani citizens. This sweeping measure covers violations spanning five years and has been implemented forthwith across the emirates.

Al Mazrouei, in a statement, said that the initiative aims to reduce the burden on the brothers from the Sultanate and out of the keenness and interest of the wise leadership to launch purposeful initiatives that contribute to the happiness of customers from various segments of society, and to enhance efforts to preserve traffic safety.

The announcement follows a grand welcome for Sultan Haitham, marked by a banquet and ceremonial military honors, including a squadron of fighter jets.

President Sheikh Mohamed said, “The strategic and economic partnership between the UAE and Oman grows ever stronger and we will continue to explore new collaboration opportunities that support our people’s shared aspirations for a stable and prosperous future”.

The visit also served as a platform for unveiling substantial UAE-Oman projects, including investment partnerships valued at Dh129 billion and the launch of Hafeet Rail, signaling a deepening of infrastructural and economic bonds.

The strategic unveiling of Hafeet Rail, now entering the implementation phase, marks a cornerstone of future connectivity enhancements between the two countries, promising economic boosts and increased bilateral cooperation.

Sheikh Mohammed said, "Oman is a depth and a support for the Emirates... and the Emirates is a depth and a support for Oman”.
