The UAE has announced Eid Al Fitr holiday dates for federal government and private sector employees, with leave set to begin on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said federal entities will observe the holiday from March 19 to Sunday, March 22, with work resuming on Monday, March 23.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation confirmed that private sector employees will have leave from March 19 to Saturday, March 21.

Authorities added that if Ramadan lasts 30 days, the private sector holiday will be extended to Sunday, March 22. The decision applies across the UAE in line with established public and private sector holiday regulations.

The exact start of Eid Al Fitr will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon. The UAE’s moon-sighting committee is scheduled to meet on March 18, corresponding to the 29th day of Ramadan, to determine the beginning of Shawwal.

If the crescent is sighted on the evening of March 18, Ramadan will end that day and Eid will begin on March 19. If the moon is not sighted, Ramadan will complete 30 days, fasting will continue on March 19 and Eid Al Fitr will commence on March 20.
