UAE announces 'Accident-Free Day', chances to reduce black points

As the summer break draws to a close and schools prepare to reopen, the UAE Ministry of Interior has announced a new initiative called 'Accident-Free Day' on August 26. This campaign aims to enhance road safety and encourage responsible driving nationwide.
The Ministry offers a unique opportunity for traffic points deduction to incentivise drivers. To qualify, drivers must sign an online pledge committing to a day without accidents or traffic violations. Those who succeed will see the deduction applied two weeks later, encouraging year-round adherence to traffic safety norms.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasized the importance of this campaign in the Ministry's broader strategy to improve road safety. He stated that the initiative aligns with the UAE government's vision and commitment to ensuring safer roads for all citizens and residents.
The campaign also focuses on educating motorists about essential safety practices. These include regular vehicle maintenance, adhering to speed limits, especially near schools, avoiding distractions while driving, following traffic lanes, maintaining safe distances from other vehicles, prioritizing pedestrian safety, and yielding to emergency vehicles.
By fostering awareness and responsibility, the 'Accident-Free Day' initiative aims to instil lasting positive driving habits among UAE motorists, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure environment on the country's roads.
