Sharjah Civil Defence deploys firefighting robots for industrial emergencies

Sharjah Civil Defence has introduced firefighting robots to handle high-risk industrial blazes, adding a new layer to its emergency response while reducing direct exposure for crews.
The machines, known as FFBOT, are designed for use in industrial areas and warehouse fires, combining fire suppression with on-site monitoring. Each unit can release water or foam at a rate of 8,000 litres per minute, reaching distances of up to 100 metres and heights of 50 metres.
They are operated remotely from as far as 1,000 metres away and use GPS-assisted navigation. Four hose inlets allow sustained water supply during operations.
Each robot carries six cameras covering four directions, giving incident commanders a live view without approaching the fire. The units also include thermal sensors, high-intensity lights for smoke-filled areas, warning sirens and built-in cooling sprinklers to withstand extreme heat.
Designed for difficult terrain, the robots can climb stairs at angles of up to 30 degrees. Reinforced front bumpers allow them to push through obstacles and reach the source of fires more quickly.
