Seven people were killed and nine others injured in a traffic accident involving a minibus and a truck on Emirates Road in Dubai, police said.
According to preliminary investigations by Dubai Police, the truck had come to a sudden stop in the middle of the road because of a technical fault.
Authorities said the minibus driver allegedly failed to maintain a safe distance and crashed into the rear of the truck.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said the Command and Control Centre received a report of the accident and immediately dispatched traffic patrols and rescue teams to the scene.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
